My relationship with my country is a complex one. I love America so much sometimes, but other times I feel so disappointed. I feel like we can and should do better. But today, on Independence Day, I don’t feel conflicted.
On Independence Day, I feel proud.
Proud to call the United States of America my home. Proud of all the men and women who fought (and continue to fight) for the freedom that I cherish. Proud of my fellow Americans who are doing such incredible things to make the world a better place for all of us.
So cheers to all the things we silly Americans enjoy on July 4th! Pies, BBQs, and beers. Sunshine, shorts, and flags. But most of all: a day free of work and stress — but filled with laughter, friendship, and appreciation.
Here’s to you, ‘Murica!
Just like my family and friends, I love my country. I don’t always like what they do but I love them none the less. Let’s celebrate the grand experiment that is America.
No doubt! Hope you had a great 4th, Mike!
