Last week we spent several days filming for the documentary about Picturing Pigs.

It was a dream-come-true kind of week for me. I spent time doing the things I love: with family, gardening, client work, volunteering, and making films. We’ve spent a year in development and pre-production, and to see it finally coming to life on screen is really exciting. I feel incredibly grateful for a week like that. (Nothing is perfect, don’t get it twisted. This is just a snippet of what happened in the past week and some of it I keep to myself, you know?) I feel really lucky.

So what happens next?

Well, we have a few more days of filming. Plus, one day for a photo shoot to create images for marketing the film. I’ve already spent some time organizing the files and going through the footage but there’s a lot of editing to be done. We also have another round of fundraising to cover the post-production and distribution part of making the film. There’s a lot of work ahead of us.

We are motivated to keep things moving and wrap up this short film quickly. Not at a break-neck speed, mind you. But we are eager to have it finished so we can share it with you. It does take a little time to get it through post-production, film festivals, and community screenings. We also really hope it’ll screen on a certain channel. Then, eventually, it’ll be available for streaming online.

Please ask any questions you have about the film and our plans with it. I love talking about what I’ve learned over the last year. It’s really helpful to hear your questions so I can get better at talking about it, so you’re helping out a lot by asking.

There are many, many people to thank for making last week happen. I am hoping to publish a gratitude post soon. I’ve got to figure out what to serve the crew on our next shoot day first, though. Please stay tuned!
