The past few days have been recovery days for me. I love to travel and I am in love with filmmaking — but it’s tough on ya. I tend to forget that because of the excitement that goes with filmmaking, but then my body is kind enough to remind me to slow it down.

Now that I’m home and have had at least one night of deep sleep, I’m feeling like myself again. Back in the routine and back to writing, planning, and researching. It’s nice.

That’s the thing, though. It’s one of the things I love most about filmmaking: the diversity in tasks. One day I’m at a desk, one day I’m out in a field talking with a farmer. One day I’m recovering from the lack of sleep, re-hydrating because I drank too much coffee and beer for too many days straight, and totally vegging out because my feeble mind has been on overdrive for so long.

Yah. Recovery days are critical. Especially for the indie filmmaker who is wearing too many hats. I’ll be back at it soon enough.

Here’s a pic of the delicious beer we sampled at Wicked Weed last week. I’m missing Asheville already.
