The latest issue of MovieMaker arrived this week. The subscription was a gift from my mother-in-law. I’m totally digging it.
As in, I wanna curl up with a cup of hot coffee and read the entire issue in one sitting. Rarely do I get such a luxury, though. So I end up carrying it around with me like a child carrying a safety blanket.
I take it everywhere. I carry it until it looks like the magazine has been in a doctor’s waiting room for at least five years: so beat up, pages folded, and a little wrinkly from god-knows-what liquid. In my case it’d be coffee, water, or orange juice. Or my dog’s slobber because I’m ignoring him to read the magazine.
So, yeah, when a new issue of the magazine arrives I’m almost in tears with excitement. Each issue is full of the stuff I’ve been researching on my own. Full of answers I’ve been asking myself for weeks, months, or even years.
It’s as if the writers and editors have a direct connection to my mind. At each meeting they have a big team meeting. They sit around and ask themselves, “Hey, what would Camden enjoy reading about? Yes, that! We should include that article in the next issue!”
Not sure what any of this means other than it’s an extended, bigger film community.
And you know I love a strong film community. There’s something about it. Everyone’s asking questions, debating techniques and theories, and pushing themselves to be better. I love that. I crave it.
So, yeah. A new issue of MovieMaker arrived. I’m going to dive in. Catch ya on the flip side!
