“When Harry Met Sally” is one of my top five favorite films. It was written by Nora Ephron. (IMDB)
Bankable talent is a fascinating thing to me. There are actors who consistently select great projects to be a part of and I’ll go to the theater to see them almost every time. This isn’t a personal thing for me, obviously, it’s an industry-wide thing that goes by many different names. But a rose by any other name still smells sweet, eh?
Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon are two folks I trust to be worth my time, for example. There are directors, like Tarantino, that fall into the bankable talent category for me, too. I pretty much loved all of Nora Ephron’s work.
I definitely want to be part of that crowd: the bankable talent. It means working with talented, smart people on the most interesting projects. It means quality and substance are part of your work. It means great things can happen.
No doubt, you gotta put forth the effort. Opportunity is often mistaken for hard work, ya know. Then one day, years from now, my name may be part of that bankable talent pool. Wouldn’t that be incredible.
