It’s been two weeks since I lasted tasted a cup of coffee. I decided to stop drinking coffee for about a month because I’d become entirely too dependent upon it. (Read the most recent coffee related blog post here.) I wasn’t as addicted as most folks, mind you, but I had started to make it part of an unhealthy daily routine.
Since then I have thought about coffee every day. I have wanted a cup of coffee every day. I have almost talked myself into getting coffee several times. But, thankfully, I haven’t gotten caffeine headaches so I’m grateful for that. Those can be beastly.
One morning, out of desperation for something caffeinated I did try a sugar-free Amp energy drink. After I bought the Amp, I had a few sips of it. It was pretty disgusting. Not worth it. To each his own, eh?
Good news. Hot tea seems to meet my need for a warm and comforting drink on a rainy day. It’s been really delightful to make a cup of hot tea again. It’d been a while since I’d done that. I even gave my kettle a good cleaning, which I’d been meaning to do for a while.
While the discussion of beverages doesn’t directly relate to filmmaking, it’s a part of me and my creative process. Beverages — namely a cup of hot, delicious coffee — keep me motivated and working hard on a film. It’s been an adjustment to live life without coffee, but nothing I can’t handle.
It’s good to give yourself a challenge every now and then. Shake up the routine. Break your dependencies. Strengthen your will power. I highly recommend it.
