comedy-short-film

This weekend I spent some time editing the short film some friends and I shot in January. Many of you have read a little bit about it, seen pics online, or heard me drone on about it in person. I’m pretty excited about this little production, not gonna lie.

You see, I wanted to simply try an experiment. After spending nearly five years working on a documentary film that’s very close to my heart, Abandoned Allies, I wanted to try something a little different. I thought a comedy short film might be about as different from a feature-length documentary about war as it could get. I wanted to give it a shot.

So last fall I sat down and wrote a screenplay. I asked some friends to help out and several months later we found ourselves at Busy Bee in downtown Raleigh, N.C., shooting it. Now here I am, editing the short film so that I can share it with my director this week and get his feedback.

Man, oh, man. I have learned so much working on this short film. I can’t even tell you right now. The list of lessons I’ve learned is a long one. I’m pretty anxious to put those lessons to work on another short film. Gotta finish this one first though, eh?

Stay tuned. I’ll share more very soon.
