Last weekend I participated in the 48 Hour Film Project for the first time. Our team was led by Josh Mills (@JoshuaJMills), whom I met at Comedy Worx eons ago. He’s a fun dude, and I really enjoy working with improvisers.
On Friday night, Josh and a few others met in Greensboro to get the required elements for the film. Afterwards, the team rallied in Durham to create a game plan for the weekend. We would shoot a dark comedy about a couple’s first date.
I met up with everyone in Durham on Saturday morning. My job was to create graphics: a business card for a character, opening credits sequence, and the film’s logo.
Zach Abrams was there to handle motion graphics. We’ve worked together previously, and he’s a really fun and smart guy to have on the team. He was one of the two talented folks who helped me with motion graphics for Abandoned Allies.
One of the things I love most about making films are the collaborative efforts among fun, talented people. I got to meet some new folks, and see some old friends this weekend. Brian Thacker, also an improviser, is one of those dear friends I haven’t seen in way too long. It was so great to spend time with him last weekend. He’s not only a good person to have on set, he’s a great actor who’s committed to making a fantastic film. A great guy to have on your team.
Last weekend was a much needed break from other efforts. I love being on set. Surrounded by film makers. And working towards making something awesome. The 48 Hour Film Project was a crazy, intense, and very fun weekend. I can’t wait to do it again.
Thanks for sharing Camden, and I’m glad you had fun, which is the most important aspect of the 48HFP. Your article came through in my google alerts for Greensboro 48HFP 🙂
It was a lot of fun, Iris. I can’t wait to do it again!
