We screened Brewconomy at the Meredith College Documentary Film Festival yesterday.

The independent documentary about North Carolina craft beer highlights ways the industry supports the local agriculture, community, and economy. It was part of the 2016 Meredith College Documentary Film Festival, which was rescheduled due to inclement weather in January.

The conversation following the screening was moderated by Anita Rao and Sandra Davidson, the women who run the She & Her podcast.

During the Q&A we talked briefly about how Brewconomy was made, the conversations about diversity in film, and the TriFilm Society.

The work I do keeps me pretty busy, so it’s always refreshing to stop long enough to talk about how we got here and where we’re going next. Plus, I love any and every chance to brag on the amazing people with whom I have the privilege of working.

One of the loveliest things about the Meredith College Documentary Film Festival is that it feels like returning home since its my Alma mater. There are so many wonderful people who work at Meredith College, and it is truly a treat to see them each year.

If you have yet to attend the annual Meredith College Documentary Film Fest, make plans to be there in January 2017. It’s free and open to the public, and the programming is top-notch.

What’s next for Brewconomy?

We’re working hard on another screening scheduled for March in western North Carolina. We hope to make that announcement soon. We’re also working on digital distribution.

Please stay tuned.

What am I working on now?

While we continue promoting and screening Brewconomy, I’ve started working on two new films.

A new short scripted piece I’m working on is tentatively titled “AK” and we are scheduled to shoot it later this month.

One is a scripted piece we’re shooting later this month (tentatively titled AK) and another is a short documentary film; both of which are going to be awesome.

If you want to support AK, a list of the ways we could use help is listed here. We would love to work with you!

The TriFilm Society is also a big passion of mine. It was born out of the struggles I faced making my first film, Abandoned Allies, and is growing quickly. Check out the Trifilm blog for upcoming events and follow the TriFilm Society on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Please tell your friends and family about it, too. Sharing my work with people you think would enjoy it is the biggest compliment and it is always appreciated!
