Finding your voice can be tough.
When you start out, there are so many challenges. It’s overwhelming. So it may feel easier to follow someone else’s lead, not knowing exactly what you stand for or how you want to voice your unique thoughts and opinions. Mimicry is the best you’ve got, so you work with it.
But once you figure out what you want, what you stand for, and what you’re willing to sacrifice to make things happen … you find … freedom.
You can move confidently in the direction of your dreams.
You can stand tall, knowing that you worked your hardest to do your best work.
You can hold your head high, knowing you didn’t sacrifice your morals, ethics, and integrity to make those dreams come true.
You can rest easy, knowing you earned every single thing that came your way – even though there may be a ton of luck involved.

My new film is going to be shot in a parking garage next year. [source]
It didn’t go quite the way I had imagined but it was a really good year.
At the end of 2015, I’m looking back feeling incredibly grateful for all of the new challenges I embraced head-on. Because they helped me grow so much.
Now, with four films finished and two new ones in pre-production, I feel as if I’m finding my own voice as a filmmaker. It feels really great.
Next year I’m stepping up my game again, taking new risks, and looking for ways to continue improving my storytelling abilities.
It’s going to be a good year!
Anything you’re looking forward to in 2016? I’d love to know about it. Use the comments to tell me what’s on your mind, including questions you might have about these two new films.
