As we continue to screen Brewconomy, I’ve been starting lots of new stuff.

It all overlaps – as is the nature of the work I do. This definitely keeps life interesting.

As I embark on new adventures, I recognize a few things:

  1. I still have a lot to learn.
  2. I know a lot more now than when I first started.
  3. I don’t want to be a good director. I want to be great.

It feels like I’ve been a bit lost for years. I’ve been trying to find my way through the fog but I’m feeling a lot of clarity these days. I’m so grateful for it.

It is clarity about who I am. Who I’m becoming. What messages I want to share. How I want to exist in this world, and what legacy I want to leave.

Although I have a good grasp on these things, I’m not entirely ready to share them here in black and white. It feels a little too vulnerable and raw. I’ll get over that soon enough, I’m sure.

This clarity about where I’m going makes me appreciate where I’ve been.

My first four films were my film school.

I was a scrappy, stubborn fighter with enough blissful ignorance to get me through the challenging times. With a lot of help from amazing people, I gave everything I had to finish those films to the best of my ability. I will always appreciate and cherish those movies.

Challenges change a person. Hopefully for the better. I’m obviously not the same woman I was years ago.

Where we go from here will be a bit different.

I hope you’re willing to come with me on these new adventures. It’s going to be pretty amazing.
