For some people it’s spiders or snakes. For others its heights or public speaking. For me? It’s being myself on camera.

It’s not really a fear, per se. It’s just something that makes me so incredibly nervous that I become a melting, hot mess. I don’t pretend to know why.

It terrifies me more than sky diving. I would literally prefer jumping out of an airplane to being myself on camera. That makes no logical sense, but there you have it.

My dear friend Sally gave me the gift of indoor skydiving one year. So much fun!

My dear friend Sally gave me the gift of indoor skydiving one year. We really want to go skydiving together — for reals — some time soon. So much fun!

That’s the reason I keep trying. So I say YES every chance I get to be on camera — even though I’d rather jump from a plane. Because I am determined to tackle this thing that makes my knees knock, cheeks blush, and stomach turn. Ever so slowly. With each opportunity.

The way I see it? If you don’t face your fears, they can control you. A fear you don’t even understand can have a lot of power over you. (Makes me think of tyrannical leaders who use fear tactics to gain power over the people.)

So tell me how much sense that makes? None, if you ask me.

I keep trying to tackle the fear. We launch this Kickstarter campaign soon and I’m on camera for a while. It makes me so nervous.

Do me a favor? Be kind when we launch this thing. I’ll get better at it, I promise. 🙂
