2014-camden-wattsYou guys. We are so close to the end of the year. October starts next month! We will blink and it’s a new year.

HOW does that happen so quickly? It’s like the older I get, the faster time flies. I don’t understand.

Knowing that the new year will be here before I’m ready, I find myself thinking about what I want from those 12 months pretty regularly these days. There are the typical New Year Resolutions floating through my mind but there are a lot of film-related goals surfacing, too.

For example, what do we want from TriFilm in 2014? Will we need more networking events? Will there be screening opportunities for the indie crowd next year? Will volunteers step up and help out — even more so than in previous years? I can’t stop thinking about it.

In the first part of 2014, I’d like to wrap up production on my new documentary film. Then quickly wrap post-production and start submitting it to festivals before the end of 2014. I’m so eager to send this documentary out into the world in early 2015. The timing has to be right.

It’d also be fantastic to work on small, fun weekend shoots. I like the idea of bringing together a cast and crew over the course of one weekend on a project. Short comedy films are my goal here. I just need to find a way through the bottleneck of funding and editing. Still working on that…

Bottom line? I have big hopes and dreams for next year. I’d like to put some plans in place now so that the year will be more relaxing, less stressful, and equally rewarding. One step at a time, eh?

Cheers to 2014!
