Have you ever wondered what it’d be like if the music where different in a particular scene you’re watching? This happens to me almost every time I watch MasterChef. The music can get a little over dramatic sometimes but I kinda dig it.

Anyway, if you’re like me and totally over-analyze the score during almost everything you watch, you’re probably gonna get excited about what’s happening this weekend.

On Sunday, September 8, you have the chance to watch a six-minute film eight times — each time with a different score. Yep. Eight different scores for one short film. Then you get to vote on your fave, and hear the artists talk about their work afterwards. Pretty cool, eh?

The event is called An Experiment in Film Music. It’s organized by Jim McQuaid and the folks at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, N.C.

The short film is by Ajit Anthony Prem. The eight composers are Joseph Dickey, Edd Kerr, Kyle R. May, Tom Hauser, Stephan Meyers, Adam Galloway, Kevin Darbro, and Michael Valentino.

Get more information about the event here. To attend, you gotta buy tickets but they’re only $5.00. That’s about the same cost of one of the delicious local beers they sell at The ArtsCenter. So go drink beer, watch some local filmmaking treats, and have a delightful Sunday afternoon in Carrboro.

Let me know what you thought of it, if you please!
