I had not heard about the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. I am totally stoked about it now, though. The research they’re doing seems awesome. Take a look at their website to get more info: seejane.org.

I remember watching Geena Davis in Beetlejuice (1988) and A League of Their Own (1992) — among others. I have long thought that she seemed like a really cool person. Now I learn that she’s founded an organization focused on “changing female portrayals and gender stereotypes in children’s media and entertainment.”

Oh, Geena. Aren’t we meant to be friends? You seem like such a champ. I wanna give you a hug and tell you thank you for making a positive difference in the world. You’re awesome.
