The Mix Tweetup was organized by Full Frame and Triangle Tweetup. Great event, wonderful turnout, and a very fun evening!
Last night I attended The Mix Tweetup (#TheMixTweetup) in Durham, which was organized by the fine folks at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival and Triangle Tweetup. It was wonderful to visit the Carolina Theatre, chat with old friends, meet new folks, and have a drink while talking about social media and filmmaking.
Full Frame (@FullFrame) is a documentary film festival that takes place each April in Durham, N.C., and it’s one of the top doc fests in the world. It’s an awesome fest. They do such a great job with programming that many of the films they select for the fest go on to get Oscar noms. (Passes for the fest go on sale January 15th at 11:00am.) Full Frame also organizes events throughout the year, like last night’s tweetup and screenings of films. Check out FullFrame.org for more info.
Triangle Tweetup (@TriangleTweetup) has been organizing events where you can meet fellow twitter users in real life. It’s a chance to finally put a face with a twitter handle, and have a convo about whatever you please. They’ve been organizing awesome tweetups in this area for years. Check out TriangleTweetup.org for more info.
Some of you who’re unfamiliar with twitter and/or tweetups might think that’s a silly thing. Actually, some of you have laughed at me — to my face — about it for a while now. I started attending tweetups years ago.
What you may not know is this: I have met some WONDERFUL people through Twitter. Some of my best friends and people who helped make Abandoned Allies were the same folks I met online through Twitter or in real life at a tweetup. So don’t scoff too hard at tweetups. Give ’em a chance first, eh?
I’m so happy about last night’s tweetup. It was such a delight. Thanks to all the folks who made it happen: Full Frame, Triangle Tweetup, the Carolina Theatre, and the many sponsors. Huge success, y’all. Keep it up.
(I’m especially stoked to have won a goodie bag! Yeah! Thank you!)
