Pre-production is an interesting time in the life of a filmmaker. It’s simultaneously thrilling and scary. The excitement of a new project and the anticipation of what’s to come is wonderful.

It’s also a bit tough to talk about a new project because, well, it could fall apart at any given moment. You never quite know how that’ll shake out. Schedules change and the project adjusts; hopefully, it moves forward in its new form.

Pre-production is a time of talking, planning, promise, and speculation. It’s a time of doing stuff most folks don’t know about — and never will. Meetings aren’t all that exciting, you know? People take pics on set, but rarely during meetings.

Right now I’m in the very early stages of pre-production so I’m going through all of the things I just described. A lot of planning, meeting, and some stuff that’s too boring secretive to talk about. I couldn’t be happier about it.

I’ve learned so much in recent years, and I can’t wait to put those lessons to work. I’m looking forward to trying something new. I want to make an awesome short film to share with you!
